Position SEO

This might seem quite an unusual term, but all position seo means is:

What position within organic search engine rankings, does a web page appear?

The organic search results have to be earned, search engines do not accept any income for them.

You either receive a good ranking within the organic search results, or you don’t.

It’s as simple as that really.

What can you do to appear within organic search results for free?

The first thing you need to understand is user intent.

When an internet user types in words or a phrase, they are going to be doing a number of things.

  1. Looking for answers to questions
  2. Conducting research
  3. Looking for a place of interest (places to go, eat or drink, for example)
  4. Shopping
  5. Seeking to solve problems
  6. Looking to find a service provider

The list could be even longer, but I am sure you are getting the gist of things.

As a website owner, you need to be aware that, there is so much internet traffic available, with users exploring all kinds of search queries, it takes a little thought to figure out, where you fit in.

First Step . . . . Research!

With so many words and phrases being typed into search engines daily, the first key step is research.

Google provide a free tool within Google AdWords and you don’t have to advertise to use it.

Simply set up an account and follow the instructions.

Google will take you through setting up a basic advert and will ask for payment details.

Work through this and pause campaign, before the advert goes live.

Once you have completed this process, you can go to tools and settings, then keyword planner.

You either have the choice of using what you feel your potential visitors might type or you can submit your whole website.

If you submit your website, Google analyse the content and provide you with a list of keyword ideas.

Where to go from here . . . .

Once you have collected a good list of keywords, you will need to decide if the content you already have is a suitable match.

You may have a number of key pages that you can utilise, but you may also find, you need to create some new content too.

Understanding user intent is also going to be key to making this research work for you.

It can be tempting to go for words that can look very popular, but would lead to a lot of wastage on your website.

Try and get this balance right.

After all, you want to attract the right type of users, with the right type of intent.
